I’ve been meaning to share this presentation with you for a little while. It was complied for World Travel Market in London last month by Sallie Grayson of peopleandplaces, as part of World Responsible Tourism Day.
It’s a great message about responsible volunteering – what it is and what it really means, in SIMPLE terms.
If you’re thinking of booking a volunteer experience, it’s often hard to know if you’re going with the right company, what questions you should ask so you avoid getting duped into the wrong deal, and what it should mean for the people on the receiving end of your volunteer efforts.
Sometimes, it’s easy to be misled by companies wanting to ply their wares without really caring about the effects on the people volunteers are working with. Like anything, there are many that are just in it for the money. So it’s good to have an idea of how things should be done, ensuring what you’re doing is the right thing, as much as you can.
So, what is the right thing?
Listen and see:
Remember to keep it SIMPLE, and you’ll be on the right track.
